Family Day, part II
That's a wrap! My weekend was an excellent one. There are multiple causes for that, first of all the weather was and still is great. Maybe even too great. I don't know what the current status is, but Holland might be suffering from a heat wave right now. Typical Dutch, never satisfied, always whining about the weather. Anyways, next to the weather there was ofcourse the 1-0 victory against Serbia and Montenegro of 'Oranje' in the FIFA World Cup. And last saturday there was the second family day in a row. This time from my fathers side of the family: Nijmeijer.
Let me quickly give you a link to the photos made by me that day: Familiedag Nijmeijer 2006 @ Flickr Pro. Hopefully I will receive additional photos or links from other family members.
It was a great day, lots of sunshine and happy people. Great to see all nephews and cousins, aunts and uncles again. The day started at 'Steenfabriek De Werklust' in Losser. A village nearby Enschede. It's an old stone factory, a great atmosphere to play a game of good 'old-fashioned boerengolf'. It's sort of mix between midgetgolf and normal golf. Make a small socccer ball go inside the dugged-in bucket using a wooden shoe on a stick. Sounds hilarious? Well it is! :)
After that a short route description took the entire family, car by car, to a farm near the Dinkel. A small creek that meanders through Twente, more in particular through the 'Lutterzand'. Ofcourse there was the mandatory 10 mile walk with assignments along the way. Well maybe it was a bit shorter, but nevertheless still fun. After that some (more) beers and great food, which finally concluded the day. Thank you organisation and the special sponsors this time, my aunt & uncle celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
